James Mangold is writing the script for DC’s Swamp Thing. It will be one of the first movies in James Gunn’s and Peter Safran’s new DCU.
James Mangold has rose to fame with his work on Logan, Indiana Jones 5. Of course, we also know him from recent news: Mangold will direct an upcoming Star Wars film.
Back in February, the writer-director hinted us his involvement in Swamp Thing when he shared a comic book illustration of the character. In his recent interview with Collider, he finally confirmed his role.
Swamp Thing is going to be a part of Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters in the new DCU, which comprises five movies and five TV shows. These projects will be the first step towards Gunn’s and Safran’s new vision for DC movies, following the reset of the universe in The Flash.
For those who missed it, the names of the next 5 movies are known:
Superman: Legacy, The Authority, The Brave and the Bold (a Batman and Robin movie), Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, and Swamp Thing. Superman: Legacy, is set to release on July 11, 2025. For the rest, we do not know the order of release yet.
As for the TV shows, they will include: Creature Commandos, Booster Gold, Waller, Paradise Lost, and Lanterns.
