The Last of Us Season 1 ended three weeks ago… already. And so, what about Season 2?

HBO

In an interview with GQ, Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin confirmed it: The Last of Us: Part II will take several seasons to adapt fully. And indeed: Part II has a more in-depth and lengthy story. Co-showrunner Craig Mazin hinted that the second season could reduce or skip the time-jump.

Season two is now in pre-production. The show’s creatives are now hard at work getting everything ready for when the actors eventually arrive on set to start filming. According to a report by Deadline, much of season two will be filmed in Vancouver.

This is interesting because season one was, on the whole, pretty rural (filmed in Calgary and rural Alberta). Vancouver is Canada’s third biggest city so we should expect season two to have a much more urban feel. This won’t surprise those of us who have played Part II. The vast majority of the game is set within the city of Seattle – unlike the first game which constantly changes location. Vancouver is assumedly then standing in for Seattle.

If you’re someone who was underwhelmed by the number of infected in season one, this more urban setting should be a solid indication that we’re due to see more in season two. Seeing as Vancouver is such a big city, we’ll also most likely get some juicy set photos in the coming months.
