The PlayStation Showcase is right around the corner. It was only natural to expect NetherRealm to be part of the event, and reveal the first gameplay footage of Mortal Kombat 1.

After all, the game was recently announced, and Warner Bros received special attention during the last State of Play with the spotlight on Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. However, Geoff Keighley has secured the exclusivity for this reveal.
So, here’s the first game announced for the Summer Game Fest. Geoff Keighley will present a plethora of exclusive announcements, with tons of “World Premieres” for nearly two hours. Mortal Kombat 1 will be part of the lineup, as confirmed by the event’s official Twitter account today.
Ed Boon himself, the producer of the franchise, will showcase the first in-game sequence for the game. We can expect to discover gameplay innovations, such as the “Kameo” fighters who provide support to the controlled characters. It will also be an opportunity to witness some bloody and brutal executions, a trademark of the series.
Mortal Kombat 1 will release on September 19th for PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch.
