Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is highly regarded by many as one of the greatest video games ever made. Since its 2004 release, it has sold over 4 million copies and received numerous accolades, including the Gameplay award for Best Story of the Year.

Fans have been eagerly anticipating a remake for years due to its immense popularity. In 2021, rumors started circulating that Konami was collaborating with Chinese studio Virtuos for the remake. However, there have been limited updates since then.
Recently, the rumors resurfaced, suggesting that the game would be an exclusive for PlayStation 5. However, an Insider Gaming report contradicts this, revealing that Konami is actually working on a multiplatform Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake, set to be released on Xbox and PC as well.
Jez Corden from Windows Central supports this claim, stating that he has “hard-confirmed” the reports. Despite Sony and Konami having a marketing deal for the game and others, Corden reveals that the remake aligns with Konami’s efforts to establish itself as an AAA gaming brand once again.
Konami is already collaborating with Bloober Team on a Silent Hill 2 remake and is rumored to have other Silent Hill remakes in the works. There have also been recent rumors about a Castlevania remake being developed by Konami.
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, set during the Cold War in 1964, serves as a prequel to the stealth video game series. Players follow Naked Snake on a mission to rescue a Russian scientist, dismantle a nuclear weapon, and eliminate his defected former boss in the Soviet wilderness of Tselinoyarsk.
Currently, there has been no official statement from Konami or Sony regarding the remake rumors. We recommend taking this news with caution. However, we anticipate some details to emerge during Sony’s PlayStation Showcase event on May 24 at 1 PM PDT.
It’s worth noting that this rumored remake is not the first revision of the action-adventure title. In 2011, Konami released a remastered version of the game as part of the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, and Xbox 360. It was later adapted for the Nintendo 3DS in 2012.
If the sources are accurate, the Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake is expected to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PC platforms.
