When it comes to games with first-person bodycam and stunning backgrounds, we are always wary of projects that seem too good to be true. Abandoned taught us that lesson. So, we had reasons to be concerned that the latest sensation might be nothing more than a visual trick, but that doesn’t appear to be the case with Unrecord.

Unrecord is a solo FPS game that follows a well-trained police officer tasked with solving an investigation, all from the perspective of their body-worn camera. The outcome is truly impressive. It’s actually difficult to believe that these aren’t actual real-life shots.
With such photorealistic graphics, many have questioned the authenticity of this presentation. To address these concerns, the game’s Steam page posted an FAQ to answer a few questions.
The studio, which is French, assures us that the demo is entirely authentic, created with the help of Unreal Engine 5, without any real-life footage. They defend themselves against the accusations of fraud, stating that if Unrecord were a scam, it would be a blockbuster-level one, given the high production costs of a video game and their reputation.
To prove it, Alexandre Spindler, the co-director of the project, posted a new video that shows the game’s existence and demonstrates that it is not a video with real-life backgrounds.
Unrecord is not expected to be released for a while. The studio is currently focusing on the PC version. No VR planned for the moment.
