Beware though, this contains spoilers.

So, how many years have passed between Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom in the game? Time has gone by since the events of Breath of the Wild, and Hyrule has undergone significant changes. However, to know the exact number of years that have passed until Tears of the Kingdom, you need to look closely.

We have confirmed it through Grosaillieh or, rather, his offspring. In Breath of Wild, you may have witnessed his marriage to a Gerudo woman named Kornuieh. In Tears of the Kingdom, they now have a daughter named Tinieh. During the “Departure of Tinieh” quest, she unfortunately has to leave her family to join the Gerudo city.

According to Grosaillieh, Gerudo tradition requires that each child joins the city to avoid any contact with men. The important detail is that the child must leave their home at the “age of reason,” a term that refers to a child’s ability to reason. Usually, the age of reason is between 6 and 7 years old. Therefore, we can conclude that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom takes place approximately 6 years after The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild.

Ironically, this is almost the same gap in release between the two games. It seems like Nintendo knew what they were doing.

Now you have a better idea of the changes you will see while exploring Hyrule and the characters you will encounter.
